ITB Berlin: Content Partner at the BESTIVAL on 25 August in Berlin
ITB on the Road – that is the slogan of the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show as it makes more and more appearances throughout the year. In addition to the main event, which will take place live again in Berlin in March 2023, ITB Berlin is partnering with industry events around the world and is able to present the travel community with events that offer first-class content 365 days a year.
As content partner of the BESTIVAL, which on 25 and 26 August will gather around 800 national and international travel and MICE industry representatives in Berlin, ITB Berlin will present two specialist sessions on 25 August. The innovative business festival is taking place on the so-called Berlin Campus at various venues in the German capital, including at Kino International, Café Moskau and the Badeschiff, and is organised by VisitBerlin.
“At ITB Berlin it has always been our mission to support the industry 365 days a year“, said David Ruetz, head of ITB Berlin. “Naturally, ITB Berlin in March will as always be the focal point of our activities. At the same time industry members can in future look forward to even more events with a wide variety of formats. The BESTIVAL in two weeks time is an excellent example of this. That is where the travel and MICE industry will be gathering to experience Berlin’s diversity, network and exchange views.“
Exclusive future topics and industry insights into the hotel trade
On 25 August at 1.30 p.m., Dr. Markus Heller from the consultants Dr. Fried & Partner will hold a lecture on ’Data-driven destination and benchmark analyses’ with a particular focus on the hospitality industry. Taking three large German hotel brands as an example, the subject will be how to reduce economic uncertainty with relevant supply and demand data.
At 4 p.m., in his keynote speech entitled ‘The greatest future of travelling’, futurist Max Thinius will talk about how more and more we are able to choose our own values and quality of life again. In his speech he will look at what algorithms, the metaverse, new currencies and other technologies have to do with it, and based on this how we will travel in the future.
At the BESTIVAL aspects of Berlin can be experienced in five segments
The two-day BESTIVAL will highlight a variety of aspects of the capital’s DNA that make Berlin’s flair so unique. A total of five Discovery Worlds – including Berlin Sustainable: Urban Jungle, Berlin Glamour & Lifestyle, Wild Berlin, Art & Music Berlin and Innovative Berlin, will let visitors experience them close up. Numerous panel discussions and lectures offering inspiration are also something to look forward to.
The entire concept and organisation of the BESTIVAL is based on the criteria of the Sustainable Meetings Berlin programme and an ISO 20121-based sustainability strategy.

365 days of ITB: World’s Leading Travel Trade Show with more and more touch points
In 2022 the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show can be found at many destinations. In spring already, in partnership with the Experience Connect event (hosted by bookingkit) and together with forward-looking Technology, Tours & Activities (TTA) providers, ITB Berlin was able to present destinations in a virtual space and on stage. A few weeks ago it again hosted the VIR Online Innovation Days at the Marshall Haus on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Only recently, it celebrated the launch of the new TRVLX series in Georgia, directly bringing together journalists and industry buyers with tourism professionals at selected destinations. In addition, members of the ITB team are represented in and on numerous other national and international forums and platforms – be it at panel discussions on CSR topics or as guests on various industry podcasts.

About ITB Berlin and the ITB Berlin Convention
Since 1966, ITB Berlin has been the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show. The ITB Berlin convention is the world’s largest travel industry event of its kind. In 2022 it took place as a virtual event on the brand’s website itb.com and registered 60,700 attendees from 125 countries who took part in more than 100 sessions featuring 223 speakers. Taking place on one day, the Digital Business Day gave 2,500 attendees from 96 countries an opportunity to exchange views and do business virtually from anywhere in the world. International attendance was high, with 78 per cent of buyers and providers taking part from abroad. A total of 20,000 business contacts were made, resulting in 14,000 leads and 3,200 business meetings being arranged. As a virtual industry platform, the Digital Business Day augmented the ITB brand family and rounded off the trade show concept. In 2022, under the heading ’TRVLX by ITB’, ITB Berlin is planning a series of B2B networking events in European markets – the kick-off event will take place in May in Georgia. Before the pandemic at ITB Berlin 2019, around 10,000 exhibitors from 181 countries displayed their products and services to some 160,000 visitors, including 113,500 trade visitors.
